30 days Gratitude Challenge

I have a dare for you.  For 30 days to try out this gratitude challenge.

After that, if you feel it is not working for you.

Just stop.  What have you got to lose?

Nothing.

You have absolutely nothing to lose.  How can I make such a huge claim?  Easy!

You can search around on the internet and in any book about gratitude.

You will see that people boost gratitude and that they make huge claims around gratitude.

I myself for one can make a claim that my life has change three hundred and sixty degrees since I started the practice of gratitude.

Why 30 days gratitude Challenge?

There is a good reason why I suggest 30 days.  In our brains, we have neural pathways.  In other words, it a path that is like a little footpath.  Let’s use the sample of a small footpath that we walk daily.  Have you ever noticed that if you walk on the same footpath in the veld, eventually it becomes walked out deeper and deeper?  The more we walk on that one path the more it is walked out.

It is the same with our brains.  We have these neural paths and the more we use them the deeper they get ingrained in our brains. Now we have to remember that we use these paths from a young age.  Most often we don’t even realize we use these paths and that they could actually be holding us back.

These paths are called paradigms.  The good news is we can change these paradigms with the use of 30 days gratitude challenge.

The challenge is there to encourage you to take it.

My grateful attitude brings me happiness.

I am happy because I am thankful. In every situation, I choose to focus on the positive instead of what needs to be improved. When I pay more attention to the things that are going well, it is easy for me to be grateful.

I refrain from forming comparisons because comparison always leads to disapproval. There will always be someone with a better car or a better job, but those things are irrelevant to how I see myself.

When I look at my life, I see someone who works hard to secure the best position for success. I am grateful for every opportunity.

I am grateful because my life is far better than it could be. Grace and providence save me from the path of destruction and allow me to live out my dreams.

My thankful heart stems from a clear understanding of my rich blessings. I am prosperous in every area of my life. Life, health, and relationships are my greatest blessings.

Happiness comes with me wherever I go because my mind is set on appreciating the blessings in every situation.

Whenever I lose focus, begin to feel sorry for myself, or start to complain about my life, I remind myself of those who are less fortunate. I remind myself of how blessed I am when compared to the homeless, the orphans, and the lonely.

Today, I enjoy happiness through gratitude. I choose to be thankful for what I have regardless of what I don’t have. I know that I don’t need more things to be grateful; I need to be more grateful for the things that I have.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1.  Am I constantly waiting for something else to complete my joy?
  2.  How can I eradicate complaints from my thoughts?
  3.  Why is it necessary to abstain from comparisons?

Now for your challenge.

There are eighty-six thousand four hundred seconds in one day.  Have you used one of those seconds to say thank you?

Expressing gratitude is one of the quickest ways to change your vibrations from negative to positive.  Gratitude is also a known method of multiplying your blessings. The repetition of practicing gratitude daily will change your entire life.

My Message to you.

Motivation comes and goes.  So we are not motivated to do things daily.  Some days we are not motivated to do the 30 days gratitude challenge at all.  When you use discipline you will achieve your goal of 30 days gratitude faster.  Discipline is a muscle that you can practice and use.  But don’t overuse your discipline.  There is an extremely important lesson here.

In general, things take the easiest route.  The path of least resistance, in essence, is the way you should be doing this.  Discipline is a finite resource.

Let’s take the example of water.  Water goes where the path is the easiest.  Yet water flows!  But it goes on the path of least resistance.

Let me explain it this way.  When you are faced with food daily that is not good for you.  You can see it every day in front of you.  You can be motivated not to eat it.  And discipline not to look at it.  Eventually, somewhere along the line, you will lose your motivation and discipline.

There is one important secret that I want to share with you concerning this.

Read here.
