If you asked me to practice 30 days with gratitude 10 years ago I would have told you.
Go jump… I use gratitude daily!
The same as many other people in the western world I grew up to believe everything happens to us.
Now don’t get me wrong.
My parents did the best they could to ensure that I will become the best me there is.
For many years I believed that I am grateful for everything.
I had this attitude of I will be grateful and happy when things go the way I want them.
I was very unhappy when things did not go my way and I strived to change or force things to go my way.
Back in 2013, I went on holiday with my best friends.
On the first day of our holiday, we went to a huge mall close to where we stayed. Always loving to walk around in a book store – it was natural for me to be in the book store in the mall. I picked up a book that spoke to me.
The front page said: “The Magic.”
My friend insisted I take the book and read it. ( I did) –Felt bullied into taking it. First got a bit frustrated and then decided, oh why not. Let see what “far-fetched” magical story this book is going to give me.
To my surprise, there was no story in the book.
And the first chapter headline was the question…do you believe in Magic?
I was intrigued and started reading this book. Again, to my surprise, the chapters were not very long and each chapter had a task for me to do.
This is how my 30 days with gratitude started.
Little did I know that gratitude was the one thing that would change my life completely.
The best way I have found to practice 30 days with gratitude is this book – The Magic. I have tried many other ways, but nothing even compares with this book. No course that I have done has ever changed my life and the direction of my life like this little book.
Every day you get a small task to do and I promise you if you put your mind to it it will work for you.
It is a very easy and simple book, yet very effective.
One day I got the assignment to walk and say thank you.
I remember walking in the mall and saying to myself in my mind.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, but for what? Thank you for what?
After a few days of practicing 30 days with gratitude, I started feeling a change in myself.
Something I could not explain, but it sure felt good. Like when we were children and loved life and lived life to the fullest.
If I had to start my life over there is one thing I would want to learn first. This will be 30 days with gratitude. The minute I understand what gratitude is, how it makes me feel – I know my life will be different.
Gratitude has changed my life from scraping by in life to an abundant life that I love.
Here is my little story and why you need 30 days with gratitude:
I know what it feels like when someone says “you are dying inside.”
My flower or plant had withered and started to droop.
(Don’t even know what for.) Never did I realize that something so simple (or so I thought) could change a person so much and in over a month.
I didn’t know what gratitude is. I did not even know the proper true meaning.
Anyway, I thought I had it all figured out.
I pay for whatever I want and I was entitled to it because I worked for it!
I remember not even in a restaurant would I be thankful for the waiter serving me, the person preparing the meal, the kitchen staff, the cleaners, etc, etc.
I was always in search mode.
I got so much love from a close friend during and after a divorce, I thought I found what I was searching for.
It started jumping up and down at me again. 2 Years divorce and here this feeling starts again. I start searching – and found ways to get more money into my life. — I GOT IT!
Still, I had ample of that, but this feeling was still irritating me.
It was only after I read and followed the instruction of a book that taught me for 30 odd days that I finally, yes finally found “the missing link.”
This kindled the fire that had been extinguished for years!
I started living like a lump of glowing coal again.
The answer to years and years of inner struggle ended with one word.
Well, I followed the instruction religiously as the book said and “voila” my whole being changed.
I learned to forgive.
I learned to be a giver.
I learned to be a better person.
I learned to be humble again.
I learned there is a definite line – you only need to find it.
Today I understand the statement
GRATITUDE DETERMINE YOUR ALTITUDE.
My dear friend, I end with the following:
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
Gratitude is RICHES, Complaint is POVERTY.
You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.
~Sarah Ban Breathnack
Put yourself to the test.
I dare you!
